What is a Skilled Nursing Facility?

Skilled Nursing Facilities in Relation to FHA 232 Loans

Skilled nursing facilities are state-licensed, long-term care facilities that offer round-the-clock care for residents dependent on nursing care. Skilled nursing facilities are different than nursing homes because they offer a higher level of medical care. Care is provided by registered nurses (RN), licensed practical nurses (LPN), certified nurse assistant (CNA), and a house physician. Some facilities also have short-term units for individuals requiring rehab services between hospital stays and returning home. HUD 232 loans are equipped to fund skilled nursing facilities, assisted living centers, and a variety of other types of residential healthcare facilities for seniors.
